After the rain

The rainy season is upon the whole country and in the case of Baguio, the rains have come early in mid-May stunting the summer reverie for tourists and locals alike.

But rain define this highland city as much as the pine trees and the temperature having the highest amount of rainfall in the country. Ironically, one of the best times to visit the Summer Capital is during the rainy season. Why? Read and learn…

There are lesser people to contend with in the famous or infamous ukay-ukay shops, cheaper prices of second hand goods, a veritable opportunity for some to change their whole wardrobe. However, you are advised to bring your warm clothes and rain gear to avoid the necessity of buying here and not being able to wear them when you get home. An odd feeling it is to watch tourists shivering in their tank tops and shorts or mini-skirts, summer get ups, while traversing the city streets under the rain.

Admit it, when it rains and the skies are gray almost always you get sentimental or just plain lazy. Small as this city is compared to other tourist destinations, the significant number of hotels here are essentially equipped to make one’s stay comfortable in all weather-conditions. Go get a room for tis the season of promos!

Snuggle in bed, with or without someone beside you, catch up on much needed sleep, open a book and rediscover the magic in novels but the easiest pastime would be to daydream and just rest as the world goes by. That is provided you cover all your bases before this retreat. If you do not want to be spending the day in bed there’s a comfortable couch somewhere. A fireplace would be a huge bonus to be able to set the mood. Finally, you get to experience those romantic “by the fireplace” moments. Use your imagination while you’re at it and believe you, me, it will be worth it.
